  1. First of all, you should begin flat on the floor (you can use a mat if needed). Then, you’ll have to bend your knees and place your feet on the ground at hip-width. Lastly, put your fingertips behind your ears, keep your elbows opened, and lock your eyes on the ceiling.
  2. Before you being doing your crunches, keep in mind that your breath should be synched up with your movements so you can perform better. Breathe in deeply as you go back down to the floor, and exhale slowly as you do the crunch so you can reach further.
  3. Now for the first part: going up. Be mindful of your abs and use them to lift your shoulders off the floor. Engage your core and keep it tight as you do the crunch. Keep your elbows opened, don’t pull on your neck, and don’t allow your chin to touch your neck, as you could injure yourself.
  4. The second part of the movement is when you’re coming down again. Don’t slam your upper body down into the ground instead, control the contraction on your stomach until you reach the floor. Doing this at a slow pace will allow you to really work your muscles.
  5. Lastly, make sure that you don’t push your belly button out as you crunch up but, try to pull it in as much as possible. Likewise, remember to pick a spot on the ceiling to stare at and to stick your tongue to the roof of your mouth to keep your head straight.
