Summer is finally here and the soaring temperatures may seem like an obstacle that can decrease your performance during your training. However, there are many ways to avoid the unpleasant effects of warm weather and keep improving your endurance for the upcoming athletic events. For this reason at Athletic Republic in Orange County, we would like to share useful advice on this topic. ;

Stick to Morning and Evening Sessions

Remember that you should avoid sun exposure from 10 am -3 pm, as the sunrays are the strongest during these hours and can cause skin damage, that’s why you should schedule your workouts during the mornings or afternoons. Keep in mind that a treadmill is a great option for indoor workouts. ;

Use Sunscreen

Applying sunscreen before an outdoor trainig session is mandatory and you should reapply it frequently to keep your skin protected after sweating. Make sure to choose a high SPF sunscreen and don’t forget to apply it to your ears, nose and neck. ; ;

Stay Hydrated

It’s no secret that you have to drink plenty of water throughout the day, however you should pay special attention to this feature during the warm summer days. Good hydration is not only important for your performance, but it will also regulate your core temperature. ;

The hot and humid days can be an excuse for skipping a training session, however these ideas will keep you cool while avoiding sun damage.
